New hockey pitch

at Monkton Prep School

After 15 years of waiting, approval for a first class hockey facility was finally granted at Monkton Prep School in Bath. This facility, comprising of over 9000m2 of synthetic turf, was completed in 16 weeks with Greenfields HT LSR 18 ND product and has been tested to FIH accreditation. Monkton Prep School has produced some outstanding hockey players in the past 75 years. But, when they had to stop playing hockey on their grass pitch in 1995, home games as well as training sessions had to be played at external locations.

Green Generation Turf

the natural evolution of synthetic turf

GreenFields has developed a new patented weaving technique. Through this manufacturing process it is possible to use the materials from the same product family; that is polypropylene and polyethylene. As a consequence the components of synthetic turf, the backing as well as the fibres can be made of the same environmentally friendly material making synthetic turf 100% recyclable. Besides the required technical standards, this patented weaving technique offers many additional advantages compared to the conventional method of producing synthetic turf.

Artificial Turf for Sports

Artificial turf provides a high performance sports playing surface. Several sport’s governing bodies including the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) and International Hockey Federation (FIH) promote the use of artificial turf for professional match play. For many teams around the world, artificial turf is often the preferred solution. GreenFields offer a sports turf system for most major sport disciplines.

Popular applications for sports turf include football pitches, rugby pitches, hockey fields, baseball fields, lawn tennis courts, bowling greens and golf putting greens.

Artificial turf became widely recognised in 1965 when AstroTurf ™ was installed at the Astrodome in Houston, Texas. Soon after, many sports teams played on artificial turf for professional matches. This first generation of artificial turf was met with criticism due to an increased risk of player injury and many teams reverted back to natural grass. Now forty years later, artificial turf has been developed almost beyond recognition into an outstanding sports product. The soft texture of GreenFields sports turf is comparable to real grass and the cushioned underlay provides excellent player comfort and safety.
